Itinerary

The Start – Journey to Kandovan Village

Your day begins at 8:00 AM with pick-up from your hotel in Tabriz. Leaving the city behind, we travel through the scenic countryside toward the foothills of Mount Sahand, where volcanic landscapes and traditional villages create one of northwestern Iran's most beautiful settings. Along the way, you'll get a glimpse of rural life before arriving at one of the country's most remarkable destinations.

The Experience – Discover Iran's Living Cave Village

Our first stop is the ancient Plane Tree of Osku, a centuries-old natural landmark that has long served as a gathering place for the local community. Surrounded by peaceful scenery, it offers a short but memorable introduction to the region's history and traditions.

We then continue to the unique Kandovan Village, one of the few inhabited cave villages in the world where people still live inside homes carved into volcanic rock. Formed by the ancient eruptions of Mount Sahand, these cone-shaped dwellings have sheltered local families for centuries and remain an extraordinary example of people living in harmony with nature.

As we stroll through the village's narrow lanes, your guide will explain how these remarkable homes were created and how daily life continues inside them today. You'll have time to admire the distinctive rock architecture, browse small shops selling local handicrafts and Kandovan's famous mountain honey, and enjoy spectacular views across the surrounding valleys.

Before returning to Tabriz, we stop at a local restaurant so you can have for a traditional Azerbaijani lunch, where you can relax and experience the authentic flavors of the region in a peaceful mountain setting.

After lunch, we begin our scenic drive back to Tabriz, arriving at your hotel in the early afternoon. With unforgettable memories of Kandovan's unique cave homes, mountain landscapes, and warm local hospitality, your half-day adventure comes to a close.
