Your journey begins early in the morning with pick-up from your hotel in Shiraz around 8:00 AM. As we leave the city behind, the landscapes gradually open into wide plains and mountain scenery, offering a peaceful introduction to the historical heartland of ancient Persia.
During the drive, your guide will share stories about the rise of the Achaemenid Empire and the kings who shaped one of the greatest civilizations of the ancient world.
Our first stop is the UNESCO-listed Pasargadae, the first capital of the Persian Empire and the resting place of Cyrus the Great. Beside his simple yet powerful tomb, you’ll learn about the ruler who laid the foundations of one of history’s greatest empires.
We then continue to the magnificent ruins of Persepolis, the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire built by Darius the Great. Walking among its grand staircases, towering columns, and detailed stone carvings offers a powerful glimpse into the glory of ancient Persia.
After visiting Persepolis, we enjoy a traditional Persian lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Naqsh-e Rostam, where the tombs of Achaemenid kings are carved high into the cliffs. Beneath them, impressive Sassanian rock reliefs depict royal ceremonies and ancient battles, bringing together the legacy of two great Persian dynasties.
In the late afternoon, we begin our drive back to Shiraz. After a day surrounded by the legacy of ancient Persia, you return with a deeper understanding of Iran’s history, culture, and timeless architectural achievements.
