Welcome to Iran. Upon arrival at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport, you will meet your mountain guide and begin the journey toward the Alborz Mountains. Leaving the capital behind, we follow the scenic Haraz Road, one of Iran's most beautiful mountain routes, as Mount Damavand gradually appears on the horizon.
Arriving in Larijan, a small mountain town known for its natural hot springs and spectacular surroundings, we check into our hotel and take time to rest after the journey. Depending on arrival time and weather conditions, a short acclimatization walk offers the first opportunity to enjoy views of Damavand and the surrounding volcanic landscape.
The remainder of the day is dedicated to expedition preparation, equipment checks, and a briefing about the climb ahead. In the evening, you can relax in Larijan's famous mineral hot springs and prepare for the adventure to come.
Overnight in Larijan
After breakfast, we drive to Gosfandsara Camp, the starting point of the South Route and the most popular approach to Mount Damavand. Here, heavy equipment is loaded onto mules while we prepare for the ascent with our personal daypacks.
The trail gradually climbs through volcanic terrain and alpine landscapes. As we gain altitude, the views become increasingly impressive, with vast mountain panoramas stretching across the Alborz Range.
After approximately four to five hours of trekking, we reach Bargah Sevom Base Camp (4,200m). The remainder of the afternoon is spent resting, hydrating, and adapting to the higher elevation before the acclimatization climb.

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, one of the most important elements of a successful summit attempt. Following the principle of "climb high, sleep low," we ascend to higher elevations before returning to base camp for the night.
The route offers increasingly dramatic volcanic scenery and magnificent views across northern Iran. Depending on weather conditions and group performance, we typically reach elevations between 4,700 and 4,900 meters.
Returning to Bargah Sevom, the afternoon is reserved for recovery, hydration, and final preparations for summit day. Your guide will review pacing strategies, weather forecasts, and essential safety procedures.

Today is the highlight of the expedition. We begin our ascent before sunrise, taking advantage of the calm morning conditions as we steadily climb toward the summit of Mount Damavand.
As altitude increases, the landscape becomes more rugged and distinctly volcanic. Near the summit, sulfur fumaroles and steam vents remind climbers that Damavand remains a dormant volcano. Although challenging, the final ascent rewards persistence with extraordinary views over the Alborz Mountains and the surrounding landscapes of northern Iran.

After breakfast, we descend from Bargah Sevom to Gosfandsara, enjoying a final opportunity to appreciate the mountain scenery that has accompanied us throughout the expedition.
Our vehicle awaits for the drive back to Tehran along the Haraz Road. As the mountain landscapes gradually give way to the capital, there is time to reflect on the accomplishment of reaching the summit of Mount Damavand.
In the evening, we gather for a farewell dinner, celebrating the successful completion of one of Iran's most rewarding trekking experiences.
